Abstract
LOBAL PRIORITY GENDER EQUALITY: KEY ACTIONS AND RESULTS5. A marked improvement can be observed in the visibility, quality and quantity of UNESCO initiatives supporting gender equality and women’s empowerment. Despite the difficult financial situation of the Organization in this reporting period, UNESCO has continued to make a systematic and concerted effort to address this priority through substantive and concrete actions both within the Secretariat and through its initiatives in Member States. Based on the strength of this experience and lessons learned, UNESCO is well-positioned to improve its performance further in addressing Global Priority Gender Equality in the coming years as the priority status of this objective is maintained for the next Medium-Term Strategy for 2014-2021.
